Preview: Fort Bend Bush Broncos vs. Fort Bend Dulles Vikings
Fort Bend Bush is 2-8 against Fort Bend Dulles since February of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Saturday. The Fort Bend Bush Broncos' road trip will continue as they head out to face the Fort Bend Dulles Vikings at 11:30 a.m. on January 20th. Hopefully Fort Bend Bush focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up ten last Wednesday.
Fort Bend Bush suffered their closest defeat yet this season last Wednesday. They fell just short of Ridge Point by a score of 46-43. While losing is never fun, Fort Bend Bush can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 788th, while Ridge Point is ranked 367th).
Idia Orobor put forth a good effort for the losing side as she dropped a double-double on 14 points and 20 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jadesyn Hardeman, who scored 13 points.
Meanwhile, Fort Bend Dulles came up short against Fort Bend Travis on Saturday and fell 57-44. Fort Bend Dulles has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite the defeat, Fort Bend Dulles had strong showings from Callie Goodly, who scored 18 points along with five rebounds and two steals, and Mya Williams, who scored nine points along with three steals. Sai sai Stewart was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with four steals.
Fort Bend Bush's record now sits at 7-16. Fort Bend Dulles' record now sits at 10-16.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Fort Bend Bush have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 33.1 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Fort Bend Dulles struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 30.8 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Fort Bend Bush came out on top in a nail-biter against Fort Bend Dulles in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, sneaking past 56-54. The rematch might be a little tougher for Fort Bend Bush since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
