Preview: South Lake vs. Forest

This Friday at 7:00 PM, South Lake faces Forest. South Lake dropped a decent lead last game -- we'll see if that pushes the squad to a win or puts them in a funk.

South Lake had a chance to win last week but let Leesburg get away with a 47 - 40 victory. Junior Kelley Joiner jr was good for an admirable five touchdowns, but his efforts couldn't forestall the defeat. Joiner jr's longest score was a 45-yard scramble in the first quarter. This also marked the 7th consecutive game in which Joiner jr rushed for 100+ yards. Junior Malaki D'haiti offered South Lake additional support, laying down the law -- and the quarterback -- with three sacks.

As for Forest, it breezed past Lake Weir last week with a final score of 31 - 6. Senior Ekemb? Cummings didn't have many carries in the previous game, but he had more touches this time and made them count as he ran for 132 yards and punched in one touchdown.

South Lake's defeat dropped it to 5-3 while Forest's win brought it to 5-2. The two teams picked up some nice yardage in their most recent games (525 for South Lake and 509 for Forest), so expect some excitement on the offensive end of the ball.
