Basketball Recap: Hamilton Comes Up Short

Hamilton lost against Lakewood Park Christian back in December of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Hamilton Marines were dealt a 72-12 loss at the hands of the Lakewood Park Christian Panthers. While losing is never fun, the Marines can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 370th, while the Panthers are ranked 140th).

Ava McGrade was her usual excellent self, going 6 of 10 from beyond the arc en route to 42 points along with seven assists and seven boards for Lakewood Park Christian. The dominant performance gave McGrade a new career-high in assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Lilia West, who posted 11 points and seven steals.

Hamilton has traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-7 record this season. As for Lakewood Park Christian, they pushed their record up to 9-3 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hamilton will welcome Hicksville at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Lakewood Park Christian, they will face off against DeKalb at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Lakewood Park Christian is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52.6 points per game this season.
