Football Recap: Owen Takes a Loss + How To Watch

After flying high against Rosman last Friday, Owen came back down to earth. The Warhorses and the Cherryville Ironmen were almost perfectly matched up on Friday, but the Warhorses suffered a 28-27 loss.

Despite the loss, Owen still got an impressive performance from Hayden Burpeau, who rushed for 161 yards and one TD on only 12 carries, and also threw for 11 yards and one touchdown.

Javarius McElhaney was a one-man wrecking crew For Cherryville. as he rushed for 71 yards and three scores on only seven carries, and also picked up 79 receiving yards and one TD. Another player making a difference was Jayden Adams, who threw for 116 yards and one touchdown.

Owen's defeat was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Cherryville, they have started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Coming up, Owen will head out to take on Patton at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Cherryville, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Lincolnton at 7:30 p.m. This will be the Ironmen's first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
