Basketball Recap: Carson Vineyard Key Part of Team Effort in Raiders Win

Argonia hadn't done well against Caldwell recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Argonia Raiders walked away with a 54-42 win over the Caldwell Bluejays. This was payback for the Raiders, who suffered a 40-33 loss the last time these two teams met.

Argonia's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Carson Vineyard, who posted seven points in addition to 11 assists and three blocks. The dominant performance gave Vineyard a new career-high in assists. The team also got some help courtesy of MANUEL FERNANDEZ, who put up ten points and seven boards.

Vineyard wasn't the only one working in the assist department: Argonia was working as a unit and finished the game with 19 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Caldwell only posted five assists.

Despite the defeat, Caldwell saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Mak Blosser almost dropped a double-double with 22 points and nine rebounds. Another player making a difference was Tanner Clark, who scored seven points and five boards.

Argonia's record is now 4-13. As for Caldwell, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-15.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Argonia will square off against Cedar Vale/Dexter at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Caldwell, they will face off against Flinthills at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Flinthills will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Caldwell surely won't give up without a fight.
