Volleyball Recap: Southern's Win on Thursday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Southern waltzed into their matchup on Thursday with two straight wins... but they left with three. Everything went their way against the Leetonia Bears as they made off with a 3-0 win. The Indians have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Bears, too.

Not only was the match a shutout, it was a big one: Southern took every set by at least 15 points. The match finished with set scores of 25-10, 25-3, 25-6.

Allyssa Shroades paced Southern's offense, picking up eight kills. Shroades got some help from Haylee Kellogg and her 16 assists. Kellogg also made an impact serving: she shared the team lead in aces with Katie Kellogg, racking up four apiece.

The victory got Southern back to even at 4-4. As for Leetonia, they dropped their record down to 0-6 with the defeat, which was their 15th straight on the road dating back to last season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Southern will host Jefferson County Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Leetonia, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Wellsville at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
