Volleyball Recap: Pike Comes Up Short

Pike was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of the South Decatur Cougars. If the Red Devils were looking for revenge after losing 2-1 to the Cougars when the teams met back in September of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Defeat or not, Pike got some senior leadership from Kendall Joiner and Justice King. Joiner had 11 digs and one assist, while King had 11 digs and three assists. Those 11 digs set a new season-high mark for Joiner.

Pike's loss dropped their record down to 9-12. As for South Decatur, with the victory, they broke their three-match losing streak and moved their record to 11-10.

Pike wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 2-0 win against Warren Central on the 27th. As for South Decatur, they have also already played their next match, a 2-0 defeat against Covenant Christian on the 27th.
