The Lakewood Ranch Mustangs will head out to face off against the Berkeley Prep Buccaneers at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Lakewood Ranch's pitching crew has only allowed 4.1 runs per game this season, so Berkeley Prep's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Lakewood Ranch was handed a heart-breaking two-run defeat in their last matchup, but they sure didn't let that happen against Southeast on Saturday. The Mustangs put the hurt on the Seminoles with a sharp 13-1 victory. The win continues a trend for the Mustangs in their matchups with the Seminoles: they've now won three in a row.
Jackson Skoglund looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over four innings pitched. He has become a key player for Lakewood Ranch: the team is 2-1 when he allows at most one hit, but 4-10 otherwise.

At the plate, Kuwain Claxton was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jake Lefevre, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Meanwhile, Berkeley Prep unfortunately witnessed the end of their 12-game winning streak on Saturday. They lost 9-2 to Trinity Catholic. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Buccaneers have suffered against the Celtics since March 10, 2023.
Josh Herrmann made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Jett Walters, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Lakewood Ranch's victory bumped their record up to 6-11. As for Berkeley Prep, their defeat dropped their record down to 16-5.
Lakewood Ranch skirted past Berkeley Prep 6-5 in their previous matchup back in April of 2025. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Mustangs since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
