Softball Recap: Mesquite Comes Up Short

After flying high against ALA - Ironwood on Saturday, Mesquite came back down to earth. The Mesquite Wildcats came up short against the ALA - Queen Creek Patriots on Saturday, falling 8-1. The match marked the Wildcats' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Liliana Ontiveros spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and three unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up six Ks. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April of 2024.

At the plate, Mesquite saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jasmine Jaramillo, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.

Mesquite's loss dropped their record down to 3-3. As for ALA - Queen Creek, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

Mesquite wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 5-2 defeat against Gilbert on the 6th. As for ALA - Queen Creek, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 13-5 loss against Williams Field on the 1st.
