Preview: Williamstown Blue Devils vs. Winooski Spartans
Williamstown is 8-1 against Winooski since December of 2014, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Wednesday. The Williamstown Blue Devils will head out on the road to square off against the Winooski Spartans at 7:30 p.m. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Vermont (Williamstown is ranked 23rd, while Winooski is ranked 15th).
Williamstown put the finishing touches on their sixth blowout victory of the season on Saturday. They blew past Oxbow 72-50. The score was close at the half, but Williamstown pulled away in the second half with 48 points.
It was another big night for Evan Bailey, who went 7 for 14 from beyond the arc en route to 34 points and 6 assists. That makes it seven consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of Williamstown's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Nick Mascitti, who scored six points along with seven rebounds.
Meanwhile, Winooski entered their tilt with Richford with nine consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with ten. Winooski snuck past Richford with a 47-42 win on Friday.
Williamstown has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season. As for Winooski, they pushed their record up to 14-3 with that victory, which was their fourth straight on the road.
Williamstown skirted past Winooski 35-33 in their previous matchup back in December of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for Williamstown since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
