Basketball Recap: Trinity Catholic Comes Up Short

Trinity Catholic was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They were beaten by The Villages Charter Buffalo 74-33. While losing is never fun, the Celtics can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 417th, while the Buffalo are ranked 25th).

When it comes to explaining why Trinity Catholic lost, don't look at Julian Mendez. Despite the final result, he posted nine points and five assists.

Leading The Villages Charter to victory were Adyn Corbin and Jomar Bernard. Corbin went 6 of 13 on his way to 15 points and six steals, while Bernard went 7 of 9 on his way to 16 points. The game was Corbin's fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jared Thompson, who had 12 points and three steals.

Trinity Catholic's defeat dropped their record down to 2-6. As for The Villages Charter, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 6-1.

Trinity Catholic didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 62-49 victory against Meadowbrook Academy on the 14th. As for The Villages Charter, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, an 85-38 win against The Grace Christian Academy on the 13th.
