Waskom and San Augustine squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Waskom had to settle for second. They fell 36-24 to the Wolves. The Wildcats' defeat signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

Despite the loss, Waskom had strong showings from Bubba Jones, who rushed for 85 yards and one score, and Chris Hernandez, who rushed for 48 yards and one touchdown.

Max Renfro had a dynamite game For San Augustine., rushing for 83 yards and a pair of TDs on only nine carries, while also throwing for 196 yards and one touchdown on only 11 passes. What's more, Renfro posted two rushing touchdowns, the most he's had since back in September of 2024. Another player making a difference was Andrew Nash, who rushed for 79 yards and a pair of scores.

The defeat was their first at home , dropping their record down to 9-3. As for San Augustine, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season.

Waskom does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for San Augustine, they will challenge Beckville at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
