Softball Recap: Teutopolis Comes Up Short

Teutopolis lost against Mattoon back in May of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Wooden Shoes fell 11-7 to the Greenwave.

Malea Helmink was cooking despite her team's loss, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one run, one double, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of CJ Apke, who went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Teutopolis has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-9 record this season. As for Mattoon, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-14 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Teutopolis will challenge Paris at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Mattoon, they will face off against Richland County at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Greenwave are facing the Tigers at the right time seeing as the Tigers are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
