Softball Recap: Jacksonville Christian Academy Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Jacksonville Christian Academy can now relate to. They fell just short of the Coosa Christian Conquerors by a score of 6-5 on Monday. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Conquerors this season, with their most recent defeat being a 8-7 loss on April 11th.

Sophie Williams spent all 8.2 innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and four unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up 12 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Symone Estell made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Carlie Chesson also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Jacksonville Christian Academy has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-11 record this season. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.6 runs over those games. As for Coosa Christian, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-15.

As of now, neither Jacksonville Christian Academy nor the Conquerors have any future games scheduled.
