Softball Game Preview: Garey Vikings vs. Alta Loma Braves

The Garey Vikings will head out to take on the Alta Loma Braves at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Garey has given up an average of 8.8 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.

Garey lost 14-3 to Sultana on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Alta Loma didn't have quite enough to beat Rancho Cucamonga on Tuesday and fell 10-8.

Ava Salazar and Isabella Galindo did some serious damage despite the final result: Salazar scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances, while Galindo scored a run while going 2-for-4. The dominant performance also gave Galindo a new career-high in RBI (three).

They weren't the only ones working in the hit department: Alta Loma kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. This was only their first loss (out of four games) when they post 11 or more hits.

Alta Loma's defeat dropped their record down to 6-5. As for Garey, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-6 record this season.
