Football Recap: Mira Costa Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from AJ Mcbean and Liam Meeker + How To Watch

Mira Costa suffered their closest defeat since November 8, 2024 on Friday. They fell just short of the Palos Verdes Sea Kings by a score of 18-15. The Mustangs have struggled against the Sea Kings recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive lost matchup.

Liam Meeker and AJ McBean certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Meeker rushed for 54 yards and one touchdown, while McBean gained 78 total yards. Meeker also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, making four total tackles and defending one pass.

Even if they lost, Mira Costa's defense still kept up the pressure with seven sacks. It was truly a group effort as Luke Meeker, Magnus Johnson, and Hunter Taylor picked up two apiece. Taylor also set a new season-high mark in total tackles with ten. Joaquin Wagner-Bagues was another major factor on D, picking up a sack, forcing one fumble, and making 13 total tackles (2.0 for loss).

Ryan Rakowski continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Palos Verdes, rushing for 80 yards and a pair of TDs, while also throwing for 145 yards and one touchdown.

Mira Costa's loss dropped their record down to 6-4. As for Palos Verdes, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 7-3.
