Basketball Recap: Frostproof Skates Past Lake Region with Ease

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Frostproof). They took their contest on Friday with ease, bagging an 88-36 win over the Lake Region Thunder. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 44-22.

Mekhi Guillaume was his usual excellent self, dropping a triple-double with 19 points, 14 rebounds, and 11 assists. His evening made it eight games in a row in which he has scored at least 15 points. Another player making a difference was Jden Plain, who went 7-for-8 on his way to 14 points and seven boards.

Frostproof smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 20 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in six consecutive games.

Frostproof's victory bumped their record up to 7-1. As for Lake Region, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-6 record this season.

Frostproof will head out on the road to square off against Avon Park at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bulldogs will be up against the Red Devils' rather soft defense (which has allowed 60.33 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Lake Region, they will be home for the holidays to greet Fort Meade at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Thunder's defense better be ready for this one: the Miners have averaged an impressive 65.3 points per game this season.
