Softball Recap: North Warren Central Comes Up Short

North Warren Central had lost ten straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 0-4 to make it 11. They lost 17-0 to the Granville Golden Horde. Having soared to a lofty 11 runs in the game before, the Cougars' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

As for Granville, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-3. The match marked their most dominant victory of the season.

For Granville's part, Joysie Velez made a big impact no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over five innings pitched. Velez was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.

In other batting news, Granville let Caroline Baker and Lillian Baker run wild. Caroline went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base, while Lillian went 1-for-3 with six RBI and one run. Those three hits gave Caroline a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Ella Olsen, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.

North Warren Central does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Granville, they have already played their next contest, a 14-7 win against Corinth on the 30th.
