Basketball Recap: 11 Straight Home Wins for Maconaquah

Maconaquah was handed a heart-breaking two-point loss in their last game, but they sure didn't let that happen against Logansport on Saturday. The Maconaquah Braves were the clear victor by an 89-68 margin over the Logansport Berries. The Braves have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three matches by 21 points or more this season.

Leading Maconaquah to victory were Josiah Ball and AJ Kelly. Ball posted 35 points along with five rebounds and three blocks, while Kelly went 11 of 20 on his way to 27 points in addition to six rebounds and six steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Ball has scored at least a third of Maconaquah's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Fuddy Kile, who had seven points along with eight boards and six steals.

Maconaquah was working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Despite the defeat, Logansport saw an underclassman step up: sophomore RJ Clem dropped a double-double on 25 points and 21 boards. With that strong performance, Clem is now averaging an impressive 8.3 rebounds per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Chris Anthony Delvalle, who almost dropped a double-double on 20 points and nine rebounds.

Maconaquah pushed their record up to 3-1 with the victory, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 25.7 points. As for Logansport, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-5.

Maconaquah will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Whitko at 7:45 p.m. on January 4, 2025. As for Logansport, they will be taking part in a tournament against Northridge at 12:30 p.m. on Friday. Northridge will roll in looking for their seventh straight victory, something Logansport surely won't give up without a fight.
