Basketball Game Preview: Capital Jaguars vs. Taos Tigers

A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Capital Jaguars face off against the Taos Tigers at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday... Capital will be strutting in after a victory while Taos will be coming in after a defeat.

Capital took a loss when they played away from home on Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They walked away with a 51-42 win over Los Alamos.

Capital's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Shania Gallegos, who posted 15 points. Those 15 points gave Gallegos a new career-high. Annica Montoya was another key player, putting up 11 points.

Meanwhile, Taos was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They took a 53-45 hit to the loss column at the hands of Bernalillo.

Taos' defeat dropped their record down to 4-9. As for Capital, their win bumped their record up to an identical 4-9.

Capital came up short against Taos when the teams last played back in January of 2024, falling 31-26. Can Capital avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
