Softball Recap: Hempfield Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Hempfield, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Warwick Warriors 2-1. This was a revenge game for the Black Knights: when they faced off against the Warriors on April 14th, they had to take a 12-3 defeat.

Kali Peifer spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits and racked up 11 Ks.

Hempfield pushed their record up to 9-8 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Warwick, their loss dropped their record down to 11-5.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hempfield will venture away from home to face off against J.P. McCaskey at 4:15 p.m. on Monday. As for Warwick, they will head out to challenge Central York at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday. The Warriors' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Panthers have averaged an impressive 9.3 runs per game this season.
