Baseball Recap: Dakota Ridge Beats Conifer for Their Third Straight Victory

Dakota Ridge waltzed into their contest on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 7-6 W against the Conifer Lobos. That's two games straight that the Eagles have won by just one run.

Bo Bixby looked comfortable as he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has become a key player for Dakota Ridge: the team is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 6-9 otherwise.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Kellen Behrendsen, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. He is becoming a predictor of Dakota Ridge's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 3-1 (and 5-9 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Jackson Barrett, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Dakota Ridge pushed their record up to 8-10 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games. As for Conifer, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-11.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Dakota Ridge will square off against D'Evelyn at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Conifer, they will challenge Standley Lake at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Lobos' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Gators have averaged an impressive 7.3 runs per game this season.
