Softball Recap: 13 Straight Home Victories for Mater Dei Catholic

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Mater Dei Catholic had no problem doing just that on Thursday. They beat the Christian Patriots by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 5-1. The victory was nothing new for the Crusaders as they're now sitting on three straight.

Arri Romero spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on two hits and racked up six Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Mater Dei Catholic saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Maya Matthies, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Mater Dei Catholic hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least four batters in 13 consecutive games.

Mater Dei Catholic's win was their 13th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 23-7. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.2 runs over those games. As for Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 22-7-1.
