Basketball Game Preview: Wynot Blue Devils vs. Homer Knights

Wynot has gone 8-2 against Homer recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Wynot Blue Devils will be home for the holidays to greet the Homer Knights at 7:30 p.m.

Last Thursday, Wynot was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 57-52 to Guardian Angels Central Catholic. The loss was the Blue Devils' first of the season.

Kotner Koch put forth a good effort for the losing side as he went 5 of 9 on his way to 13 points. Those 13 points gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Andrew Haberman, who almost dropped a double-double on 11 points and nine boards.

Even though they lost, Wynot smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in three consecutive games.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Homer). They breezed by Winside to the tune of 74-43 on Thursday. The contest was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Knights had established a 20 point advantage.

Having lost for the first time this season, Wynot fell to 2-1. As for Homer, the win got them back to even at 2-2.

Everything came up roses for Wynot against Homer in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, as the squad secured a 65-26 victory. Does Wynot have another victory up their sleeve, or will Homer turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
