Baseball Recap: West Union's Win on Thursday Extends Winning Streak to Three

With a playoff win on the line, West Union rose to the challenge on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 12-1 margin over Falkner. The result was nothing new for West Union, who have now won 12 games by seven runs or more so far this season.

Jake Foreman was a standout: he went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI and one run. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Grant Martin, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

West Union was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .476. They are a perfect 9-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

The win (which was West Union's third in a row) raised their record to 14-12. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Falkner, with the defeat, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 19-11.

West Union will have a chance to go back-to-back against Falkner: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
