Basketball Game Preview: Woonsocket Villa Novans vs. North Providence Cougars

The Woonsocket Villa Novans will square off against the North Providence Cougars at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Woonsocket has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the game with 16 straight losses, while North Providence will come in with ten straight wins.

Woonsocket lost 55-35 to St. Raphael Academy on Wednesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Villa Novans have suffered against the Saints since December 23, 2016.

Meanwhile, North Providence strolled past Narragansett with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 64-47. Given the Cougars' advantage in MaxPreps' Rhode Island basketball rankings (they are ranked fifth, while the Mariners are ranked 26th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

North Providence pushed their record up to 16-1 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.0 points per game. As for Woonsocket, their loss dropped their record down to 0-16.
