Basketball Preview: East Leopards vs. Highland Rams

The East Leopards will be playing at home against the Highland Rams at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. East will be strutting in after a win while the Rams will be coming in after a defeat.

East had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They put the hurt on Skyline with a sharp 59-35 win on Friday. The win was just what East needed coming off of a 74-53 loss in their prior contest.

Meanwhile, Highland faced the Hawks in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Highland took a 54-50 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Hawks. Highland has not had much luck with the Hawks recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.

Despite the defeat, Highland had strong showings from Bodie Dodge, who scored 17 points along with two steals, and George Mcconkie, who almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Dodge has scored all season. Grayson Gaddis was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with six rebounds.

East's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 8-11. As for Highland, their loss ended a seven-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 14-6.

East suffered a grim 58-35 defeat to the Rams when the teams last played back in January. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Mcconkie, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 15 rebounds. Now that East knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
