Basketball Recap: Goreville Comes Up Short

Goreville was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their 15th straight defeat dating back to last season. They had to suffer through a 41-14 loss at the hands of the Sesser-Valier/Waltonville Red Devils. The contest marked the Blackcats' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Lydia Kwiatkowski was Goreville's leading scorer, having posted six points. Kwiatkowski also led the team in rebounds with eight. Chasey Peas took the lead distributing the ball, coming up with three assists.

Goreville's loss dropped their record down to 0-14. As for Sesser-Valier/Waltonville, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 12-4.

Goreville wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 66-29 defeat against Anna-Jonesboro on the 16th. As for Sesser-Valier/Waltonville, they will face off against Herrin at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Sesser-Valier/Waltonville is facing Herrin at the right time seeing as Herrin is stuck on a seven-game losing streak.
