Lisbon/St. Dominic may have come out ahead in their last matchup, but they shouldn't get too cocky given who is up next. On Saturday they take on Mountain Valley at 1:30 PM. Keep an eye on the score for this one : both teams put up some lofty point totals in their previous games, so things might heat up even more when they meet up.
Lisbon/St. Dominic had to travel to play their first game of the season, and the final result was worth the trip. They were the clear victor with a 36-14 margin. They was expected to win, but the margin was definitely larger than the state rankings had forecast.
Meanwhile, Mountain Valley gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener last week. Everything went their way against Poland as the squad secured a 35-0 victory. With Mountain Valley ahead 25-0, the game was all but decided by halftime.
Their wins lifted both teams to an identical 1-0. In their win, Mountain Valley relied heavily on senior Jacob Blanchard, who rushed for 162 yards and 2 touchdowns; a key strategy for Lisbon/St. Dominic will lie in finding a way to minimize his impact.
