Softball Recap: Kofa Takes a Loss

If Kofa was riding high fresh off their 18-2 takedown of Yuma last Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Kings took an 11-7 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Cibola Raiders on Tuesday. The Kings were not able to make up for their defeat to the Raiders from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.

Kiya Sayre was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Hailey Alvarez was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

Kofa's loss was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 6-13. As for Cibola, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 11-13.

While Kofa had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
