Basketball Recap: Mora Gets the Win

Mora won the last time they faced Penasco and things went their way on Thursday too. The Mora Rangers/Rangerettes escaped with a win against the Penasco Panthers by the margin of a single free throw, 51-50. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Rangers/Rangerettes.

Several Panthers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Kaileb Atencio, who went 7 for 13 on his way to 15 points and six boards. Another player making a difference was Angel Romero, who went 6 of 9 en route to 14 points in addition to six rebounds and three steals.

Mora now has a winning record of 9-8. As for Penasco, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-8 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mora will square off against Questa at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Penasco, a feisty cat fight is on tap when the Penasco Panthers duke it out with the McCurdy Bobcats at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. Penasco is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51.9 points per game this season.
