Soccer Game Preview: South Elgin vs. Wheaton-Warrenville South

The South Elgin Storm will face off against the Wheaton-Warrenville South Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

South Elgin is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. Their defense stepped up to hand Elgin a 9-0 shutout. The victory was familiar territory for South Elgin, who have now won eight games in a row.

Their offense was hitting Elgin from everywhere, as six different players booted in a goal. Nevaeh Gyurko led that balanced group of strikers and accounted for four goals all by herself.

Meanwhile, Wheaton-Warrenville South waltzed into their contest on Wednesday with six straight wins... but they left with seven. They blew past the Maroons 6-0. Wheaton-Warrenville South's defense has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a goal in their last three matches.

South Elgin's win bumped their record up to 15-7-2. As for Wheaton-Warrenville South, their victory bumped their record up to 16-1-2.

South Elgin came out on top in a nail-biter against Wheaton-Warrenville South in their previous matchup back in April of 2015, sneaking past 3-2. Will the Storm repeat their success, or do the Tigers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
