Preview: Scott Eagles vs. Calvary Christian Cougars
The Scott Eagles will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against the Calvary Christian Cougars at 7:30 p.m. on January 16th. Scott has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 321 points over their last five contests.
Scott pushed their score all the way to 62 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They received a tough blow as they fell 77-62 to Lloyd Memorial. While losing is never fun, Scott can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kentucky basketball rankings (they are ranked 123rd, while Lloyd Memorial is ranked 20th).
Despite their loss, Scott saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Dylan Giffen, who scored 13 points, was perhaps the best of all. Another player making a difference was AJ Lowe, who scored 12 points.
Calvary Christian suffered their closest defeat yet this season on Monday. They fell just short of Ludlow by a score of 58-55. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Scott now has a losing record at 8-9. As for Calvary Christian, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost eight of their last ten matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-11 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Scott against Calvary Christian in their previous meeting back in December of 2022 as the squad secured a 77-23 win. With Scott ahead 47-10 at the half, the game was all but over already.
