Baseball Game Preview: Gateway Gators vs. McKeesport Tigers

For the second straight game, Gateway will face off against McKeesport. Gateway will challenge McKeesport at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Gateway is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 13.8 runs per game this season.

Gateway's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They were the clear victors by a 15-0 margin over McKeesport. While the Gators didn't have the best season last year (they finished 4-14-1), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Jon Saunders was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That triple marked the first that he hit this season.

In other batting news, Roman Jennings was a standout: he went a perfect 2-for-2 with two triples, four RBI, and two runs. Those triples marked the first that he hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryan Deselich, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3.

McKeesport is on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-6. As for Gateway, their record now sits at 4-1.
