Softball Recap: Oakton Comes Up Short

Oakton entered their matchup against South Lakes on Tuesday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Cougars fell 8-5 to the Seahawks. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Seahawks this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 5-3 on April 9th.

This is the second loss in a row for Oakton and nudges their season record down to 8-4. As for South Lakes, the win snapped their losing streak at four games and leaves them with a 10-5 record.

Oakton and South Lakes should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Virginia Rankings. The Cougars will face off against Mount Vernon at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday with a big rank advantage (97 vs. 289). Meanwhile, South Lakes (ranked 89th) will meet Chantilly (ranked 233rd) at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
