Softball Recap: Gadsden Comes Up Short

Gadsden extended their losing streak to ten on Tuesday, dropping them down to 11-10. They lost 12-1 to the Mayfield Trojans. The Panthers were not able to make up for their loss to the Trojans from their previous meeting back in April of 2025.

Gadsden saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lucia Aranda, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

As for Mayfield, their victory was their tenth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 20-1. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 14 contests by six runs or more this season.

On Mayfield's side, Dallas Bencomo was a standout: she fired off two home runs and three RBI while going 2-for-4. That's the most home runs Bencomo has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Ariana Lujan, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

While Gadsden had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
