Marissa/Coulterville had already won eight in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.8 runs) and they went ahead and made it nine on Thursday. They walked away with  a   12-7  win over the New Athens Yellow Jackets. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won  11-3  last Tuesday.
 Molly Kane looked comfortable as she  tossed 1.2 innings while giving up   no  earned runs off   one  hit. What's more,  she posted two  strikeouts, the most she's  had since back in March.
 At the plate, Marissa/Coulterville got a  massive  performance out of  Kennedy Trieb, who  got on base  in four of her five plate appearances with three  stolen bases, three  runs,  and two  RBI. Those  three  stolen bases gave  Trieb a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of  Ayla Ranck, who  went 3-for-4 with three  runs, one  stolen base,  and two  RBI.
 Marissa/Coulterville was getting hits left and right  and  finished the game having  posted a batting average of .417. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as New Athens only posted a  batting average of  .241.
Marissa/Coulterville's victory was  their eighth straight on the road, which  pushed their record up to 15-4. The  road  wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.4 runs on average over those games. As for New Athens,  they are  on  a  three-game losing streak  that has dropped them down to 8-9.
 Looking ahead, Marissa/Coulterville will be taking part in a tournament against Greenville  at 10:00  a.m.  on Saturday. The Comets' pitching crew has only allowed 2.4  runs per game  this season, so the Meteors' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for New Athens, they will take on Okawville at 4:30  p.m.  on Wednesday.
