Preview: Bonita Vista Barons vs. Westview Wolverines
Bonita Vista has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against the Westview Wolverines at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Bonita Vista had no problem doing just that on Friday. They didn't even let Coronado onto the board and left with a 35-0 win. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as Bonita Vista just coasted through the last quarter.
Caden Ada-tannehill continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 162 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 7.4 yards per carry, and also throwing for eight yards and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, a well-balanced attack led Westview over Mar Vista in every quarter on their way to victory two weeks ago. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Westview blew Mar Vista out of the water with a 59-6 final score. The victory was just what Westview needed coming off of a 28-7 loss in their prior contest.
Westview got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Mason Walsh out in front who threw for 263 yards and four touchdowns while completing 76.5% of his passes, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Amare Gomez was another key contributor, gaining 154 total yards and two touchdowns.
Their wins bumped Bonita Vista to 7-4 and Westview to 6-4.
