Softball Recap: Nyssa Wins Going Away Against Riverside

Nyssa waltzed into their contest on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They put the hurt on the Riverside Pirates with a sharp 7-0 win. The game marked the Bulldogs' most dominant victory of the season.

Not much got past Addie Cleaver, who gave up just a hit and racked up 16 Ks to keep Riverside off the board. Cleaver has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Reyna Avalos was incredible, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Aaliyah Rodriguez was another key player, earning one RBI and two stolen bases.

Nyssa's win bumped their record up to 6-11. As for Riverside, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-8.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Nyssa beat the Pirates by a score of 16-1 later that day.
