Soccer Game Preview: West Iredell vs. East Lincoln

West Iredell hasn't had much luck against East Lincoln recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Warriors will host the Mustangs at 5:30 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Having struggled with six losses in a row, West Iredell turned things around against East Wilkes on Wednesday. They walked away with a 4-2 victory over the Cardinals. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for West Iredell's offense, which had struggled in the games prior.

Meanwhile, East Lincoln hasn't lost a match since March 3rd, a trend which continued in their latest game on Tuesday. They never let West Iredell get on the board and left with a 5-0 win. East Lincoln might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matchups by three goals or more this season.

They hit West Iredell with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Sadie Badgett (3), Piper Rasmussen, and McKenzie Benfield.

East Lincoln pushed their record up to 15-1-2 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up three goals over those seven contests. As for West Iredell, their victory bumped their record up to 7-10.
