Basketball Recap: South Falls Despite Big Games from Brylee Moss and Paityn Fritz

After flying high against Haysville Campus last Tuesday, South came back down to earth. The South Cougars lost to the Hutchinson Salthawks on the road by a 46-32 margin on Friday. The Cougars were not able to make up for their defeat to the Salthawks from their previous meeting back in February of 2024.

Paityn Fritz and Brylee Moss certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Fritz went 6-for-15 to rack up 16 points along with seven rebounds and three steals, while Moss posted 11 points. That was a full 50% of South's points, marking the fourth time in a row she's had more than a third of the team's points.

South's loss dropped their record down to 8-6. As for Hutchinson, their win bumped their record up to 8-5.

South didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 48-32 victory against Maize on the 11th. As for Hutchinson, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 41-30 win against Valley Center on the 11th.
