Fort Myers is a perfect 7-0 against Cypress Lake since February of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Green Wave will be playing at home against the Panthers at 6:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Last Thursday, Fort Myers made easy work of Immokalee and carried off an 8-2 win. The victory continues a trend for the Green Wave in their matchups with the Indians: they've now won six in a row.
Daciana Harvey made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Harvey was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
In other batting news, Sage Rodmyre was incredible, going 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2024.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Cypress Lake, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They blew past Lely 11-2 on Monday.
Like Fort Myers, Cypress Lake also got a great game from a two-way player: Audrina Westland. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out nine over seven innings pitched. Westland was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with four RBI, one triple, and one run.
In other batting news, Cypress Lake got a big performance out of Maisy Vogel, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Vogel also put up a double, which was her first of the season. Sofia Grimaldi was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-2.
Cypress Lake has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a massive bump to their 5-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for Fort Myers, their victory bumped their record up to 14-5-1.
Cypress Lake's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Fort Myers hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .363. It's a different story for Cypress Lake, though, as they've only averaged .149. Will they be able to contain Fort Myers' hitters?
Fort Myers beat Cypress Lake 5-1 in their previous matchup back in March of 2024. Do the Green Wave have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Panthers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
