Baseball Game Preview: Catholic Memorial Knights vs. St. John's Prep Eagles

The Catholic Memorial Knights will challenge the St. John's Prep Eagles at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.

Catholic Memorial hadn't beaten Newton North on the road since April 22, 2017 but that history sure didn't bother them on Thursday. The Knights had just enough and edged out the Tigers 5-3.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for St. John's Prep, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Cambridge Rindge & Latin 7-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Eagles have posted since May 22, 2024.

Catholic Memorial has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.2 runs on average over those games. As for St. John's Prep, they pushed their record up to 4-4 with the victory, which was their third straight at home.
