Football Recap: Oakton Starts Season with Victory at Home + How To Watch

Oakton took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Thursday. They claimed a resounding 50-0 win over the Edison Eagles. For the Cougars, this counts as revenge for the 24-14 victory the Eagles walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2021.

Jack Martin had an outrageously good game as he threw for 343 yards and five touchdowns while completing 83.3% of his passes, and also rushed for 30 yards. Those 343 passing yards gave him a new career-high. Timmy Volciak was Martin's top target, picking up 90 receiving yards and three TDs.

Oakton's run defense was locked in: Edison could only muster 2.5 yards per carry. The team can thank Brayden Vazquez for the heroic effort on defense: he. Oakton didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 6.5.

Looking ahead, Oakton is packing up and heading out on the road for their first away game of the season: they will face off against Justice at 7:00 p.m. on September 5. As for Edison, they will host Woodson at 7:00 p.m. on September 5.
