Recap: Laney Buccaneers vs. North Brunswick Scorpions
The Laney Buccaneers had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 43 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They claimed a resounding 40-0 win over North Brunswick at home. The result was nothing new for Laney, who have now won six games by 27 points or more so far this season.
Laney's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kolbe Little led the charge by throwing for 188 yards and three touchdowns, while also punching in a touchdown on the ground. Another player making a difference was Hampton Roderick, who picked up 138 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Laney's victory bumped their record up to 7-2. As for North Brunswick, their loss dropped their record down to 6-3.
Laney will head out on the road to face off against Topsail at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Topsail will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 192nd, while Laney is ranked 40th). As for North Brunswick, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Ashley at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
