Softball Recap: Northwest Cabarrus Triumphs

Northwest Cabarrus won the last time they faced Carson and things went their way on Friday too. The Trojans came out on top against the Cougars by a score of 5-1. That's two games straight that the Trojans have won by exactly four runs.

Haylee Ellis spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits and racked up 12 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Tatum Krolak was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, four RBI, and one double. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kinsley Jung, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one double.

Northwest Cabarrus always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .515. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Carson only posted an OBP of .179.

Northwest Cabarrus now has a winning record of 10-9. As for Carson, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-14.

Northwest Cabarrus didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 7-4 loss against Central Cabarrus on the 28th. As for Carson, they have also already played their next matchup, a 14-4 defeat against West Rowan on the 28th.
