Basketball Recap: Greencastle Comes Up Short

Greencastle was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They lost to the Cascade Cadets on the road by a 63-44 margin. The Tiger Cubs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Cadets apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in November of 2018.

Despite the loss, Greencastle still got an impressive performance from Bailey Brown, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds. Brown has been hot recently, having posted ten or more boards the last three times she's played.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Cascade to victory, but perhaps none more so than Macey Pugh, who went 7 for 16 on her way to 25 points along with eight rebounds and six steals. Cascade is 8-4 when Pugh posts five or more steals, but 2-6 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Chloe Smith, who went 7 of 14 en route to 18 points in addition to five boards and four steals.

Greencastle's loss dropped their record down to 7-15. As for Cascade, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 10-10.

Greencastle will head out on the road to challenge Monrovia at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Cascade, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against Mooresville Christian at 6:00 p.m. Cascade is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51.4 points per game this season.
