Football Recap: East Jefferson Comes Up Short

East Jefferson extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to four on Saturday, dropping them down to 0-3. They had to suffer through a 56-22 loss at the hands of the Willow Lions. The Warriors were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Lions apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in September of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why East Jefferson lost, don't look at Curtis Johnson. Despite the final result, he rushed for 110 yards and a pair of touchdowns, and also threw for 129 yards on nine of 23 attempts.

As for Willow, the victory was the fourth in a row (dating back to last season) for them, bringing their record up to 3-0. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 14.5 points on average over those games.

Willow's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Darryl Franklin, who picked up 94 receiving yards and two TDs, and also rushed for 49 yards and one score. Franklin was no stranger to the big play, cutting upfield on a catch that went for 54 yards. Willow also got help from Ahmad Vappie, who showed off his sure hands for 111 receiving yards.

East Jefferson didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 36-0 defeat against South Plaquemines on the 26th. As for Willow, they have also already played their next game, a 40-8 loss against Newman on the 26th.
