Volleyball Recap: Fergus Falls Comes Up Short

Fergus Falls lost against Willmar back in September of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Otters fell 3-1 to the Cardinals.

While Fergus Falls ultimately came up short, they really made Willmar work, particularly in the third set. The match finished with set scores of 25-18, 21-25, 26-24, 25-19.

Leading Willmar to victory were Jordan Blahosky and Mallory Beier. Blahosky had 20 digs and three assists, while Beier had 15 digs. Those 15 digs gave Beier a new career-high. Sydney Zuidema also deserves some recognition as she had her first block of the season.

Fergus Falls has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-9 record this season. As for Willmar, their victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-5.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Fergus Falls will challenge rival Alexandria at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Willmar is set to square off against their familiar foe Apollo at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
