For the first time this season, Sandia Prep will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will look to defend their home field  on Thursday against the East Mountain Timberwolves  at 3:00  p.m. Sandia Prep is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.7  runs per game  this season.
Sandia Prep made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Shiprock, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Sundevils put the hurt on the Chieftains with a sharp  18-3 win two weeks ago. The Sundevils not only won  two weeks ago, but they posted their biggest win  since April 16, 2024.

 Amelia Martinez made a splash no matter where she played. She  tossed four innings while giving up  three earned runs off   three  hits. Those  hits marked the first that  she  allowed this season. She was also stellar in the batter's box,  going a perfect 3-for-3 with four  runs, four  RBI,  and two  doubles. Those  two  doubles gave  her a new career-high.
 In other batting news,  Ozzi Rockey was  incredible,  firing off two  home runs, seven  RBI,  and three  runs while going 4-for-4. That's the most  hits  she has posted since back in April of 2024.  Madeline Draszkiewicz was another key player,  scoring three  runs and  stealing a base while going 3-for-4.
 Sandia Prep was getting hits left and right  and  finished the game having  posted a batting average of .682. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a  batting average of .308 or higher in ten consecutive  contests.
Meanwhile, East Mountain was not able to break out of their rough patch  on Thursday as the team picked up their 15th straight  defeat  dating back to last season. They came up short against  Ruidoso, falling  22-0.
 East Mountain saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was  Krista Schon, who  went 1-for-2 with two  stolen bases.
 Sandia Prep's first  victory this season bumped their record up to 1-11. As for East Mountain, their loss dropped their record down to 0-14.
East Mountain's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them:  Sandia Prep hasn't had any issues making contact this season,  having earned a batting average of .436. It's a different story for East Mountain, though, as  they've  only  averaged .209. Will they be able to contain Sandia Prep's hitters?
 Sandia Prep came out on top in a nail-biter against East Mountain in their previous meeting  back in April of 2024, sneaking past  11-10. Do  the Sundevils have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Timberwolves turn the tables on them?  We'll have the answer soon enough.
